On the Job Training for Life

Meditation – Sunday

Focusing Statement: Pathwork Lecture 131 ¶8

I have given you many tools for reaching yourself and thereby living in the now.  This whole path — with all its methods and various approaches — is concerned with this primary goal.  When you realize yourself, when you find your real self, you are in the now — in the very act of being in yourself.

This last phrase hit me. How am I in being myself in this very moment? Holding my coffee cup (yes, Gary allows himself to drink coffee during meditation!), breathing – feeling my breath, thoughts floating around, being in all of myself…

Then the phrase arose, “Mastering the Art of Being in Myself.” Just being with that phrase. Then it is as if I look up and see the others in my life – Pat, fellow Pathworkers, family members –  each Mastering the Art of Being in Themselves. Then all others on the planet Mastering the Art of Being in Themselves.

From this view, perhaps a profound Acceptance of myself and others can be experienced. And then others accepting me – dare I take that in? Such a TREAT – Accepting myself, Accepting others, Accepting the Cosmos, Accepting God, and experiencing the possibility of being accepted by others, the Cosmos, and God.

Once again the idea of sending out short frequent messages to the 25 Pathworkers invited to our Leaders Retreat surfaces in me. Maybe a message like… “In preparing our Souls for our Retreat, let us Pause and Consider…” Perhaps doing this act of kindness is my treat for the other leaders – and my treat may be how we all show up in May.

Coffee Time – Sunday (2 ½ hours)

Gary: Let me read my meditation focusing statement from Pathwork Lecture 131 – and I did. And I went on to share what else came up in my meditation – about how to work toward the Leaders Retreat in May. Pat: You are creating a field for your Leaders Retreat. And you are inviting the others’ participation in this emerging field. You are inviting them to lend their talents, good will, energy, presence, and consciousness to the emerging field. Inviting them to be clear vessels of that consciousness – inviting them to purification – to find their Buddha or Christ Nature, their TRUE Nature. Gary: Back to the definition of Pathwork as a spiritual path – a path leading one to a profound awareness of Self, Others, the Cosmos, and God. We deepen into that experience. Pat: Our awakening for the benefit of all beings.

Our conversation continued to deepen, now into the nature of our own relationship. Pat: In our relationship my task is to let go of all the constructs in my mind that thinks it knows what this relationship is all about and that thinks it knows what is coming, especially as we work with Sage and Anthony in July.

Pat: When I look at the humongous effort it required to free myself from the prisons I myself created in my early life, to free myself in order to step into the freedom that comes from the field of greater consciousness, and then consider all that came to me, blowing me out of the water of life, my mind wants to make sense of all this, of my life. But, alas, I can’t!

Pat: So I need to let go of my need to make sense of all of these happenings in my life – let go into the broader understanding – opening to, stepping into the greater consciousness, aligning with the Plan of Salvation that the Pathwork lectures talk about all the time. And to this invitation to let go and step into a greater, but unknown, consciousness I say YES!  I don’t know what my YES means, or what it will require of me, or what is so far beyond where I am. It could mean one of us being dead today. And even at that, my answer to Life unfolding is YES! – YES, though I do not know what is next. Gary: That is quite a perspective on Life! Pat: And a way that is absolutely true! Gary: Again taking us back to Pathwork Lecture 131 ¶8:

I have given you many tools for reaching yourself and thereby living in the now.  This whole path — with all its methods and various approaches — is concerned with this primary goal.  When you realize yourself, when you find your real self, you are in the now — in the very act of being in yourself.

Pat: Our coffee time in the morning is like On The Job Training! I find my voice here with our “us.”  I pause at Pat’s statement – feels reaffirming of how I intend to be with Pat. And I, too, find my voice. So beautiful. Pat: Like Rip Van Winkle – After 1,000 years, something in here is waking up! We receive this profound understanding, and we are willing to be a recipient of this profound understanding. May the lusciousness of this understanding soften our hearts and permeate every hardened cell in our bodies!

Gary: I am reminded of Abraham’s call out of the land of Ur of the Chaldees to a place to be revealed – just GO, don’t concern yourself as to where to go — at some point I shall show you! Pat: And Abraham’s answer was YES! All quite amazing is it not!

Pat: I’m trying to get my bearings without my mind putting out a construct of safety. Those “bearings” are “energetic” bearings, fluid but somehow solid in the greater understanding and intention so that no matter where I step or how it looks, the arising of either the external or internal, I can keep my bearings, my balance. Yes, balance! It is so very helpful for me to have a felt sense of this!

Pat: And this means letting go of what we think our relationship is about. Gary: Yes, letting go of all we know of the male/female relationship – getting beyond all that we have become fixated on in the male/female relationship. So much Mystery beyond what we can possibly know, surrendering to the energy of Love.

Shared in love, Gary
