At the end of our business conversation my client and now friend, a very bright and successful technologist and entrepreneur, moved the conversation to a more philosophical vein.

Surprised by her question, I said, “No, the scene is from an era of my life that left me when my parents died. I have no sense of those roots.”

As I sat waiting for Pat to join me for coffee time my thoughts turned to my search for broader relationships.

Gary, what blocks your manifestation of who you are on planet Earth?

Of course I knew my faith was lacking. I had a lot of head knowledge about God and Jesus Christ, about the Holy Ghost and Heaven and Hell, but the sense of faith they were talking about, the faith that transcends understanding and would give me peace, was somehow foreign to me.

So what are my practices as a Pathworker and why do I long for a deep daily practice? Is something still missing?

What would have happened had I become a carpenter and not gone to college? Or if I went to college but chose a major of primary interest such as theology or philosophy or astronomy

I found myself inspired by all of this, even eager to make connections with Needleman. His words were taking me back to looking within. … “So who is the Gary who is wrestling with life, exploring life, thrilling at the discoveries of life, and then sharing all of this in this blog?”

What would I say about dying? What are my feelings about death and dying?

…“We shall shatter your worldview!” I remember this statement to this day. It was shocking to me back then.
